What We Believe

We believe in the one true God who created the heavens and the earth. There is one God, who exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

We believe God has revealed who he is and his divine will in the Bible. By the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the writers of Scripture recorded infallibly the mind and will of God. The Holy Scripture is authoritative in all matters of faith and life.

We believe God created humankind good, in his own image and likeness, without sin, and yet with free will. But, our first parents were tempted, sinned, and fell from this original righteous state. By this transgression, the image of God in humankind was distorted. All humankind became hostile to God, following in the sinful pattern of our first parents. Thus, we are all sinners unable to save ourselves; only God’s mercy and grace can save us.

We believe Jesus Christ is God incarnate, fully God and fully human. He was crucified for our sin, suffered death, and was buried. On the third day he rose from the grave and then ascended into heaven. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and fully establish God’s Kingdom on earth, to which there will be no end.

We believe salvation is by grace through faith alone, which is a gift from God. Salvation is found in Christ alone.

We believe the Holy Spirit dwells within God’s people and gives them the strength and wisdom to trust Christ and follow him.

We believe Christ’s ministry of redemption and reconciliation continues through his Body, the Church. God calls all Christians to ministry and endows them with gifts for the building up of the Church. Christ has commanded the Church to administer two sacraments: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism is the sign and seal of engrafting into the Body of Christ. The Lord’s Supper is a sign and seal of remembrance of Christ’s death.

We believe all good things come from God. We have the responsibility of joyously using all we have been given to give God glory.
