Keyboardist

“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth.” — Psalm 100

First Presbyterian Church of Wellsboro is seeking a Keyboardist to help lead our congregation in joyful, reverent worship. We are a welcoming, Christ‑centered congregation that values relationships in the heart of Wellsboro, and we value beautiful music that supports congregational singing, choir leadership, and the faithful proclamation of the gospel.

We welcome applications from any qualified individual, and we are especially excited to hear from musicians who are eager to serve and develop their musical gifts within a supportive church community.

Purpose of the Position

The Keyboardist provides musical accompanist during worship services and accompanies the choir throughout the choir season, helping the congregation lift their voices in praise to God.

Worship Style

Our worship is rooted in the reformed tradition, using traditional and modern hymns that are biblically centered, within a liturgy shaped by the gospel. Services include Scripture readings, congregational and choral singing, corporate prayers of adoration and confession, an invitation to give with a prayer of dedication, prayers of the people, and preaching from the Bible. Our worship is thoughtfully ordered for gospel formation – traditional without being rigid and designed to lead God’s people to follow Christ.

Responsibilities

  • Accompany the choir and provide keyboard accompaniment for Sunday worship services during the choir season (first Sunday after Labor Day through the first Sunday of June).
  • Provide music for special services, such as Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday.
  • Provide keyboard music for worship services during the summer months while the choir is on break (second Sunday in June through Labor Day).
  • Accompany weekly choir rehearsals during the choir season.
  • Serving under the Director of Music Ministry to provide congregational music that is biblically faithful, thoughtful, and artistically beautiful.

Instruments

The church is equipped with a grand piano and a pipe organ to support congregational singing and choral accompaniment.

Schedule & Time Commitment

  • Approximately 5–7 hours per week (including practice)
  • Up to four paid Sundays off per year

Compensation

Annual compensation of $6,000–$8,000, based on experience and proficiency. We are open to working with emerging musicians who demonstrate strong musical skill and a heart for worship.
