First Presbyterian Church Wellsboro is located on the gas lamp lined Main Street of town.
Wellsboro itself is nestled in the mountains of north central Pennsylvania. It has a distinctly New England character with wide, tree lined boulevards and authentic gas street lamps. With a population of just under 4000, it is the county seat for Tioga County, and is located forty-five miles north of Williamsport and about the same distance south of Corning, New York. For residents who like to visit big cities or for those city dwellers who like to visit small towns, it is nice to know that Wellsboro is five hours or less from New York,, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Washington, D.C, Cleveland and Toronto and somewhat closer to Rochester and Buffalo.
Tourism is centered around the recreational activities of golfing, hunting, fishing, rafting, camping, skiing, and general sight-seeing. Nearby is the "Pennsylvania Grand Canyon," the area's number one tourist attraction. Close by are the Corning Museum of Glass and the popular Finger Lakes Wine Country. The local scenery is glorious year-round. So special is Wellsboro that it was one of the featured locations in the recent National Geographic publication - Small Town Getaways.
We hope you will come to visit and worship with us soon!
